O’Gara had opened the scoring with a third minute penalty but David Holwell soon had Leinster back on level terms before O’Gara again struck before suffering a hand injury which forced him off.
However his replacement Paul Burke was just as accurate landing his first penalty to extend the lead to 9-3
It was not until the second period that the home side were able to extend their lead when Marcus Horan was shunted over the line for his first try of the campaign. Soon after Frankie Sheehan added a second try for Munster as they took control. However Leinster refused to buckle and a late Eric Miller score, converted by Holwell, who also added a penalty was enough to give them a losing bonus point.
