Charlie Hore had opened the scoring for the home side with a well struck penalty and an Ali Warnock drop goal kept the momentum going as the Borders searched for their first win of the season. However Gavin Henson swiftly brought the Ospreys back to level terms with two well struck penalties. Hore and Henson exchanged further penalties as the sides turned around all square.
However the Ospreys began to exert more pressure on their lowly hosts in the second period and before the hour Ryan Jones was just able to make the try line from a five metre scrum – with Henson adding the extras. Hore again was on the mark as the Borders looked to get back on level terms but Andy Newman put the game beyond doubt when he was driven over. Henson again landed the conversion.
Hore slotted his fourth penalty but it was not enough to even claim a bonus point, and the visitors will be glad to return south with a sixth successive win under their belts.
